NJ is unaffordable, and taxes are a huge reason why. Republicans have used the tax code to reshape the American economy in favor of ultra-wealthy billionaires and multinational corporations. We need Democrats with a vision of how to rewrite the tax code for working families.

Michael led the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) which led to economic growth and narrowed the wealth gap in the US for the first time in decades. His proposed tax plan is built to do the same with growth-oriented, fiscally responsible tax reform focused on improving the lives of hard-working New Jerseyans and their families. Michael will lead on Day One to:

• Cut taxes for middle-class families, working parents, small businesses, and seniors on fixed incomes so that people can keep more of their hard-earned dollars.
• Make billionaires and multinational corporations pay their fair share.
• Promote fiscal responsibility and long-term economic security by rejecting tax policies that primarily benefit billionaires at the expense of future generations.
• Fully restore the SALT deduction to end the double taxing of New Jersey families.

Even with a world-class education and workforce, New Jersey ranks 49th in business friendliness, 49th in wage growth, and last in kids returning home for jobs. The economy is changing rapidly and New Jersey is getting left behind.

Michael has worked in both the public and private sectors to catalyze industries and to create millions of jobs.

Michael will lead on Day One to:

• Make NJ-7 a hub for advanced manufacturing, clean energy, and life science jobs.
• Turn abandoned shopping malls, corporate parks, and brownfields into job and innovation centers.
• Bring home federal investments to build the industries of the future.
• End the unchecked development of warehouses across our towns.
• End Trump’s tariffs on our allies to lower costs on groceries, construction materials, prescription drugs, and everyday goods.

Nearly half of NJ residents say they’re likely to leave because of the cost of housing.

For 15 years, Michael has worked to increase housing affordability so that thousands of nurses, teachers, and first responders could afford to buy their first homes.

Michael will lead on Day One to:

• Make it easier to build housing near new job opportunities.
• Cut red tape and incentivize zoning reform to build more homes.
• Expand first-time homebuyer tax credits.
• Refund excess property taxes above 5% of income for seniors.
• Provide property tax credits for residents 65+ who downsize within New Jersey.

Healthcare costs are crushing New Jersey families — paying more for premiums, prescriptions, and procedures than almost anywhere else in the country. Too many families delay care because they can’t afford it, too many seniors struggle to afford their medications, and too many small businesses can’t compete with rising healthcare costs.

Michael will lead on Day One to:

• Ensure healthcare is a human right.
• Lower costs for families by allowing Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices, expanding Affordable Care Act subsidies, and capping out-of-pocket costs.
• Expand primary care, mental health treatment, and addiction services.
• Make breakthrough treatments like GLP-1s affordable and available for families who need them.
• Crack down on Pharmacy Benefit Managers that drive up prescription drug costs.

New Jersey families pay some of the highest energy bills in the country. Tom Kean Jr. said if clean energy were cut, New Jersey would face an “energy crisis” — and then he voted to cut energy funding.

Michael has worked across the country to build new clean energy sources to bring down costs and increase competitiveness.

Michael will lead on Day One to:

• Restore and expand clean energy tax credits that lower monthly utility bills.
• Bring home funding to invest in modern energy infrastructure.
• Make New Jersey a hub for clean energy jobs from battery storage to advanced manufacturing so costs can be cut while growing the local economy.

Michael is a proud graduate of NJ public schools — the best in the country, but also among the most underfunded by Washington. Teachers spend their own money on classroom supplies, school buildings are aging, and kids face overcrowded classrooms and outdated curriculum and technology.

Michael will fight to strengthen and fully fund public education by:

• Bringing home federal education dollars so taxpayers are not burdened with ever increasing property taxes.
• Raising teacher pay and classroom resources through increased federal support for Title I and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act funding.
• Expanding access to STEM, vocational, and technical education so every student has a pathway to a good-paying job, college degree, or skilled trade.
• Protecting public schools from extremist attacks on what books kids can read.
• Expanding national service opportunities.

Childcare has become one of the biggest expenses for working families in New Jersey, forcing parents to make impossible choices. Meanwhile, childcare providers are struggling to stay open because the economics don’t work for them either.

Michael will make childcare affordable and accessible by:

• Cutting childcare costs for working families through a fully refundable Childcare Tax Credit.
• Supporting childcare providers and educators with fair pay, small business support, and federal funding to expand capacity in high-need areas.

Every person deserves the freedom to make their own healthcare decisions without interference from politicians. When the Trump Administration blocked funding to Planned Parenthood Clinics during the pandemic, Michael made sure Clinics received federal funding on his first day in the federal government.

Michael will protect and expand reproductive freedom by:

• Codifying Roe v. Wade into federal law so every American has the right to make personal decisions about their body and future.
• Protecting access to contraception and IVF and stopping any attempt to restrict reproductive care.
• Ensuring affordable access to reproductive healthcare.
• Defending privacy and data protections so no woman can be tracked or prosecuted for seeking healthcare.

From the Delaware to the Raritan Rivers, floods cost NJ-07 homeowners, renters, and small businesses tens of millions of dollars every year. Tom Kean Jr. has never brought back funding from FEMA to help prevent flooding and has done nothing as the Trump Administration has stopped all funding for flood mitigation. Michael will:

• Restore and reauthorize FEMA’s flood mitigation program.
• Fight for funding to remove the trees and debris from our rivers that cause flooding and to invest in stormwater drainage capacity and stormwater management.

In NJ-07, more than half of the 95 towns in the district are impacted by higher than acceptable forever chemicals (PFAS) in our water – with one reporting the highest PFAS levels in the country. Meanwhile, Tom Kean Jr. has let the Trump Administration cut off funding for PFAS remediation, removed the requirement to measure the safety of our water, and has done nothing to bring home any federal dollars to fix the issues. Michael will:

• Fight to make corporate polluters pay.
• Ensure continued measurement of PFAS in our water.
• Fully fund the emerging contaminants program that was defunded by Trump and ensure NJ towns get access to that funding.

Under Tom Kean Jr., trains are last on the priority list, with decades worth of delays and no direct lines into NYC for most folks in the district. Michael understands how to build things and get things done — on time and under budget. Michael will:

• Ensure peak one-seat rides for all riders across the district by fully funding and overseeing the Gateway Program and Portal North Bridge and ensure funding is accelerated, prioritized, and completed on-time and under budget.
• Provide flexible federal operating support to NJ Transit so they can invest in the things that will make trains more reliable.
• Hold NJ Transit accountable for reliability metrics.
• Cut red tape with permitting and procurement reform to build transit infrastructure faster.

The Trump Administration used DOGE to haphazardly gut critical federal agencies and programs that funded cancer research, maintained national security, supported small businesses, monitored clean water, and protected our economic future. But they’ve gotten away with it because the American people have lost their faith in the government’s ability to actually deliver.

We need to invest in the capacity of government to build, innovate, and get things done. Michael will lead on:

• Rebuilding the expertise Trump dismantled in science, national security, environmental protection, and public health.
• Conducting aggressive oversight into illegal activity, corruption, and abuse of authority, restoring Congress as a true coequal branch of government.
• Building a government that can actually build things — streamlining permitting for housing, transit, and clean energy; modernizing procurement rules; and increasing federal capacity to manage large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Making government services faster, simpler, and more responsive.
• Requiring performance metrics and transparency across all federal agencies and programs.

For too long, Big Tech has written the rules while Washington has looked the other way. They’ve designed platforms to maximize their profits by creating addictions for our kids.

Michael will fight to ensure new technology works for people by protecting kids, safeguarding democracy, and strengthening national security, and will lead to:

• Hold social media platforms accountable, including auditing their algorithms, banning addictive designs for minors, holding them liable for amplifying harmful content to kids, and taxing their revenues like other addictive industries.
• Work with labor leaders, researchers, and innovators to develop AI guardrails that protect jobs, require safety testing, and ensure AI lifts workers up instead of replacing them.
• Protect boys and young men from digital-era harms by cracking down on online gambling, extremist content, and algorithmic manipulation, while expanding real-world pathways that compete with online addiction: sports, apprenticeships, service, and community.
• Launch a modern national service program that gives every young American opportunities to serve in fields like climate resilience, public health, and disaster response.

Corporate lobbyists, billionaires, and special interests have more power in Washington than the people. It’s time to end that era. Michael is running to put people back in charge and break the grip of corporate greed on our democracy.

Michael will lead on:

• Ending Citizens United and taking corporate money out of politics.
• Establishing term limits and age limits for federal office, including the House, Senate, Supreme Court, and Presidency.
• Banning stock trading for all Members of Congress.
